About
Book Space Cardiff is an independent bookshop in the heart of Cathays.
We have something for everyone, with a wide array of fiction, non fiction and a large children's and young adult section. Anything that we don't have on the shelves we can usually order in quite quickly.
Let us help you discover your next favourite book!
Letter from the owner
To the Book Space Cardiff community,
There are few things I enjoy more than reading but one thing I love is sharing the joy of reading with all of you. I would love to help you find something to read!
Why do I love reading? Stories connect us. Books can change us. To become completely absorbed in a book is such a wonderful feeling.
One of my main goals for the shop is to foster community. I would love nothing more than for my little bookshop to become something of a hub.
Being so new to the area, people are often asking me how the business is going. The answer is that people are coming in and buying books! As long as that continues, I will be here, sharing my passion for books with you all. I am so grateful for your continued support.

Why I opened the shop
I fell in love with books in bookshops when I was a child. When I was 19 I went to Paris and while I was there I found out about a bookshop (Shakespeare and Company) that you can live in for free if you open and close the shop every day and do a couple of hours of shelving books. So I stayed there for a couple of months and found a passion for the art of bookselling. When I moved back to the UK after a few more adventures (au pairing in Italy and volunteering at the Edinburgh Fringe) I got a Saturday job at a fantastic bookshop in Bristol, Max Minervas. It was there that I learned a bit more about the day to day running of a bookshop. I then ended up working in television for a bit as a lighting technician (a bit of a departure from books). I thought that maybe I could open a bookshop when I am much older, if the stars ever align, but then there was a big gap between TV jobs so I looked into if it was possible to follow my dream. It was!
